The Valley Park School District invites passionate, energetic, student-centered coaches to apply for the position of
Assistant Boys' Soccer Coach for the
school year. The ideal candidate possesses a high level of knowledge of the game of soccer and a passion for helping student-athletes grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically today in preparation for tomorrow.
Essential duties and responsibilities include: - Assist the head coach with instructing and training participants in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport;
- Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach;
- Assess strengths and weaknesses in participants' performance as well as provide encouragement and constructive feedback while keeping the head coach informed of participants' performance;
- Assist the head coach with determining game strategy;
- Assist the head coach in providing supervision of all participants until they have left the building and/or site;
- Follow established procedures in the event of a student-athletes injury;
- Maintain high standards of student-athlete behavior;
- Act as a positive role model to students on and off the court/field/site;
- Encourage student-athletes to maintain a high academic standard;
- Maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and coaches;
- Follow MSHSAA and District regulations; and
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Position: Part-time temporary, season-specific.
Education: Minimum of 60 college credit hours.
Certification: Missouri State Teaching Certificate or Missouri Substitute Certificate.
Experience: Prior coaching or playing experience in the sport preferred. Working with school-aged children and background in education are strongly desired.
