POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant / Associate Director of Donor Relations is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program that fosters meaningful and consistent interactions with donors at all levels. This role focuses on enhancing donor engagement through personalized recognition and communication strategies, ensuring donors feel valued and informed about the impact of their gifts. The Assistant / Associate Director provides administrative and operational support to the department, particularly in fundraising, donor communication, and event coordination. The role involves close collaboration with fundraising professionals, senior leadership, volunteers, donors, and program staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Donor Relations - Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive donor stewardship program to acknowledge, engage, and retain donors, ensuring their continued support.
- Develop and execute a donor relations strategy with an annual calendar of stewardship activities, personalized plans for major donors, and regular impact reports.
- Create stewardship materials, such as reports, newsletters, and events that highlight donor impact and foster long-term relationships.
- Assist gift officers with stewardship plans for top donors, manage timely gift acknowledgments, and collaborate with the Communications team on donor engagement strategies across digital and print channels.
- Manage recognition societies, ensuring consistent benefits and events for members.
- Evaluate program effectiveness, tracking donor recognition, events, and compliance with privacy regulations. Analyze donor feedback and engagement metrics to continually improve stewardship efforts, enhancing overall donor satisfaction and retention.
- Conceptualize and implement donor cultivation and stewardship events, including dinners, receptions, dedications, and lectures, focusing on Giving Societies events and room/building dedications.
- Track and report donor stewardship activities, ensuring alignment with institutional best practices and goals.
Endowment and Scholarship Management - Ensure timely and personalized communication with donors, expressing gratitude and providing regular updates on the impact of their contributions. Oversee endowment and scholarship funding, including allocation, reporting, and stewardship.
- To engage donors and recipients, organize donor and student thank-you letters, surveys, and events like scholarship meetings and Stewardship Week.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree.
- The knowledge and ability to create, execute, support, and oversee a comprehensive donor acknowledgment and recognition plan, including advising on complex and carefully orchestrated cultivation events and programs for the major donors.
- Minimum five years of fundraising experience with a track record of enhancing donor relations. Experience in an educational or higher education is preferred.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of creativity and innovative thinking.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with staff at all levels, and the ability to represent Moravian University with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Good listener with the ability to build rapport easily with internal and external constituents.
- A team-oriented person with a passion for education, excellent judgment, maturity, creativity, flexibility, and a good sense of humor.
