Job Summary/Basic Function:About This Role:
The Assistant Professor, Foundations, Illustration, and Design will teach foundations courses in drawing and design, as well as select illustration and graphic design courses. Candidates should be familiar with using and teaching industry standard software, including Adobe Creative Cloud apps, and should have knowledge of Macintosh platforms. Duties include some advising; serving on student thesis committees; serving as faculty sponsor for student organizations; collaborating with faulty to provide leadership in curriculum, department events, recruitment, equipment, and facilities development for undergraduate programs; foundation success team; serving on department, college and university committees; and other responsibilities as assigned by the department chair.

- Teaching and related activities (40-60%)
- Research and creative activities (20-40%)
- Service and related activities (10-30%)
Key Competencies:- Ability to teach Drawing I and II; Illustration I and II, Design I, and Intro to Graphic Design; use of industry standard software, including Adobe Creative Cloud apps; knowledge of Macintosh platforms. Ability to collaborate with faculty on curricula, recruiting, student retention, department events, and other department business, including Foundation Success. Commitment to mentoring students for classroom, campus, and professional success.
Physical Requirements:- Able to lift 40 pounds, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings.

Benefits - Lamar University Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):
- MFA in studio art, drawing; Illustration; or related field with design experience, or in Graphic Design or Illustration with studio experience;
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience):- Record of professional and creative accomplishment; ability to teach traditional and digital media; two years of teaching experience in courses listed or related courses.
