Position Summary Under the direction of the
District Manager and Area Manager, the
Assistant Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of multiple store locations. This role ensures that assigned locations maintain high standards of
customer service, operational efficiency, and compliance with company policies. The Assistant Area Manager provides
leadership and support to
Store Managers, assisting in staff development, performance management, and overall store success. This role typically oversees
3-5 stores while actively managing daily operations at one designated location.
Key Responsibilities - Hold Store Managers accountable for delivering excellent customer service and achieving performance goals.
- Monitor and ensure consistent customer service scores, feedback, and results across all assigned locations.
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing store environment at all assigned locations.
- Ensure product knowledge and training are consistently reinforced among store teams.
- Oversee training and compliance for all employees regarding food safety, environmental health, and safety procedures.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures across multiple locations, ensuring consistent compliance.
- Manage labor scheduling, ensuring efficient staffing within budgeted guidelines.
- Coach and mentor Store Managers to develop effective leadership skills.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws across all assigned locations.
- Oversee performance management, including disciplinary actions and employee development.
- Ensure proper inventory management, receiving, and stock movement processes are followed.
- Minimize cash losses and implement best practices for financial security at all stores.
- Analyze sales, profitability, and growth metrics for each location to optimize store performance.
- Ensure all stores properly execute marketing plans and track sales and margin growth.
- Adjust buying habits and inventory strategies based on sales data and category performance.
Qualifications & Experience - Must be available to work any shift, Sunday - Saturday, to support business needs.
- Advanced degree or certification preferred.
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to adapt, multi-task, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer systems and data analysis.
- High level of attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership and critical-thinking skills.
Physical Demands & Work Environment - Requires prolonged standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting.
- Regularly required to talk, hear, use hands, and operate tools and equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Ability to operate a cash register (POS system) and stock displays/coolers.
- Work environment includes moderate noise levels in an office setting and outdoor exposure in all weather conditions.
