Job Description:
UF Health Advancement Strategic Leadership
• Lead the advancement vision and strategy for six Health Science Center colleges, units, and UF Health Shands hospital and affiliate hospitals inclusive of developing an engagement program that moves away from transactional fundraising to building meaningful, mission-driven relationships between the donors and the institution
• Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team within UF Health and Central UF Advancement, collaborating closely with senior leaders in each college/unit.
• Provide proactive leadership and oversight to senior advancement staff through coaching, performance management, and strategic talent reviews, and lead with transparency
• Establish and implement fundraising goals and strategic plans aligned with UF Health priorities.
• Partner with UF Health leadership to develop campaign strategies, fundraising plans, and tailored to each unit of UF Health
• Engage with UF Health leadership on presentations, initiatives, and advancement-related efforts.
• Drive innovation and collaboration to support UF Health's role in advancing the university's goal of continuing to be one of the top health systems in Florida.
• Collaborate with UF Advancement, UFA Talent Management, UF Health Shands human resources, and UF Health clinical enterprise human resources to optimize organizational structure and talent for fundraising success.
• Build a sustainable and effective advancement infrastructure to support UF Health priorities and campaign
• Foster a culture of teamwork, professional development, and high performance within the advancement team.
Campaign Leadership & Special Initiatives
• Champion a culture of philanthropy within UF Health, engaging key stakeholders including members of various UF Health boards, faculty, administrators, physicians, volunteers, and donors in fundraising efforts.
• Enhance, rebuild and fully implement UF Health's grateful patient programs through fostering effective collaboration with faculty, clinicians, alumni, donors, prospects and institutional leadership.
• Implement and uphold fundraising best practices and resource allocation to maximize return on investment.
• Develop and execute strategic campaign initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall campaign priorities and metrics.
• Partner and collaborate with Central UF Advancement to enhance campaign infrastructure and financial processes.
• Represent UF Health on the UF Advancement Campaign Leadership Council and other key leadership committees.
• Represent UF Health Advancement at the UF Health Corporate Board, the UF Health Shands Community Board, the College of Medicine Leadership Council, and College of Medicine Alumni Board meetings.
• Provide fundraising data analysis reports to UF Health leadership as appropriate.
• Use cost-benefit analysis to set priorities, monitor expenditures, identify cost-effective approaches and oversee an $8M budget.
• Cultivate and solicit 8-figure+ transformational gifts,
• Represent UF Health at key donor, alumni, business, and community events.
• Serve as an advisor in mentoring and training development professionals in grateful patient fundraising through learning sessions and seminars.
• Evaluate and refine advancement programs using data-driven analytics and enhanced performance metrics.
Portfolio Management
• Manage a portfolio of leadership donors, with a focus on principal, and transformational gifts.
• Provide strategic direction for UF Health's principal giving program, identifying and cultivating donors capable of making transformational gifts ($5M+).
• Implement a strategic moves management approach to donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with alumni, parents, friends, volunteers, and other key stakeholders.
• Serve as a key representative of UF Health Advancement, articulating priorities within the context of the university's broader advancement mission and objectives.
Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions related to this position.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and ten years of appropriate experience with demonstrated success soliciting gifts at $1 million and above in an institution of higher education.
Preferred:
The ideal candidate will possess:
• 10 to 15 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in development, with a demonstrated track record of successful fundraising in a large-scale university and academic health system environment or a similarly complex organization.
• Experience soliciting gifts at $5 million and above and 12+ years of management experience at an institution of higher education.
• Proven success in designing, planning, and managing comprehensive fundraising campaigns, preferably in higher education.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain development professionals, build cohesive teams, and strategically manage personnel to maximize engagement with external constituencies.
• Strong organizational and operational skills, with confidence in representing UF Health externally while providing internal leadership.
• Ability to construct, articulate, and implement an annual strategic development plan that aligns with UF Health's mission.
• Experience in establishing and monitoring fundraising goals, strategic and operational planning and performance evaluation at the department level.
• Solid understanding of budgeting practices, financial accountability and resource management to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
• Ability to work both independently while also effectively engaging with individuals at varying levels of seniority across UF Health and external partners.
• Familiarity with the healthcare industry and trends, its challenges, and its unique needs within an academic institution.
• Experience in developing, and managing leadership boards through recruitment, training and motivating volunteers. .
• Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards in professional fundraising practices.
• Ability to develop and implement programs that engage key constituencies in meaningful philanthropic initiatives.
• Deep appreciation for and ability to articulate the philanthropic goals of the University of Florida and UF Health.
• Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and donor engagement strategies, with experience in donor databases, contact management systems and tracking systems preferred.
• Strong analytical skills, exceptional written and verbal communication abilities and the capacity to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills, experience in data-driven environment, and the ability to lead, influence, and inspire others.
• Competency with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as email and internet platforms.
• Ability and willingness to travel for donor meetings and events. A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.
Business expenses are reimbursed through a standard accounting system. The ability to pay for expenses using your own personal credit card or funds and have them reimbursed is essential.
