Chapman University's renowned Dodge College of Film, located in the heart of vibrant Orange County, California, seeks dynamic and passionate candidates for our Artistic Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor of Public Relations, Advertising, and Entertainment Marketing (PRAEM) position. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position which begins August 1, 2025.

The award-winning PRAEM Program at Dodge College of Film (Public Relations, Advertising, and Entertainment Marketing) offers students a robust curriculum focused on storytelling for business through the lens of film, television, and digital media. The program emphasizes the strategic use of media platforms, including social media, to deliver impactful communication strategies. With over 200 undergraduate majors and an additional 200 students minoring in Public Relations or Advertising, the program provides a dynamic and growing academic community. Students in this program gain hands-on experience in industry practices, preparing them for successful careers in entertainment marketing, public relations, advertising, and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory and advanced courses in Public Relations, Advertising and Entertainment Marketing, integrating both theoretical knowledge and strategic, real-world practices.
  • Teach a 4/4 schedule annually.
  • Provide mentorship to students in the PRAEM program.
  • Engage in program development and contribute to the continued evolution of the curriculum.
  • Participate in service to the school and university, including committee work and outreach activities.
  • Maintain an active professional profile with ongoing industry involvement, research, or creative work related to public relations, advertising, or entertainment marketing.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:


  • An advanced degree (master's or Ph.D.) in Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Film, or a related field, OR significant professional experience and expertise in the entertainment industry, particularly in advertising and marketing within the film or media sectors.
  • Experience in teaching, either at the university level or in the industry.
  • A demonstrated commitment to both teaching excellence and continued professional development in the field of public relations, advertising, or entertainment marketing.
  • Studio or industry experience in advertising/marketing within the film or entertainment sectors is highly desirable.

Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate. The salary range for this position is $100,000-$110,000. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience. This position is contingent on final budget approval.
