The Aquatic Science Manager will help to connect and continually enhance these three program components by performing the job functions listed below. The Aquatic Science Manager in Aquaculture will serve as a support person for the Chair of the School of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences at Kentucky State University. This position will assist with instructional support (40%), research (30%), and extension (30%) related to all necessary aspects of aquaculture and aquatic science. This person will have a managerial role, overseeing the Program of Distinction Virtual Content & Extension Technologies Developer position, and potentially others in the future. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Facilitate admissions and registration for students in all School academic programsAdvise students regarding what classes to register for and when (academic planning)Maintain course materials in appropriate learning management software platformsEnsure the School is aligned with online education teaching pedagogy and course designManage the undergraduate and graduate certificate programs in the SchoolMaintain student records and assemble information required for reporting purposesDesign, create, and manage all virtual academic courses for the SchoolAssist with collaborative agreements with other institutionsWork with non-degree entities for distance education needs (private companies, non-profits, etc)Help ensure course catalog(s) are up to date and maintain a 5-year course plan for the SchoolAssist graduate students with their research documents (reviewing and revising)Review students research progress and review student presentations and postersEnsure students are meeting their research goals (proposal development, experimental execution, etc)Oversee the Program of Distinction Virtual Content & Extension Technologies Developer positionPotentially oversee other research and extension positions as the School growsFacilitate the development of video content for extension purposesEnsure a strong social media presence for the School and positive public relationsHelp to prepare the annual Program of Distinction ReportEnsure that SACS accreditation standards are metOther related duties as required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Knowledge of aquaculture and aquatic sciencesPractical experience in researchAbility to efficiently organize a diverse work load and delegate tasksAbility to work independently and as part of a team with excellent communication skillsExperience working with studentsComputer literacyExperience with multiple social media platformsAble to properly use both still and video camerasInitiative, resourcefulness, and punctualityExhibit professional and personable demeanorExperience in scientific writingAbility to perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does have supervisory responsibility. OTHER DUTIES: Position will conduct other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: M.S. in Aquaculture, Aquatic Science, Marine Biology, or a closely related discipline10 years of experience in the relevant discipline WORKING CONDITIONS: May work in adverse weather conditions or indoors in uncomfortable temperature and with waterWork environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require basic safety precautions Internal Candidates are Encouraged to Apply Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
