Under the supervision of an exercise physiologist, assists in direct instruction and guidance of clients during land and aquatic classes at the Wellness Center. Upon request of the director, will assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the Wellness Center and will also perform clerical and receptionist duties associated with activities for the Wellness Center.
Education and Formal Training: High School Graduate, ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform job duties required. Degree in Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology or certification as an aquatic fitness instructor. Excellent interpersonal skills. Computer, fax, and telephone skills. CPR certification.
Work Experience: Experience in Aquatic Exercise Programming and/or personal training and fitness instruction.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Must be physically active/exercise oriented. Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill or debilitated people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with clients/patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Has ability to manage emergency/crisis situations.
