About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Systems Consultant with deep expertise in Apptio, specifically the Technology Business Management (TBM) framework. This role will partner across Finance, IT, and Business teams to optimize and maintain our financial systems and tools, build dashboards that generate actionable business insights, and drive operational efficiency through better cost transparency and planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the configuration, implementation, and ongoing management of Apptio TBM modules to support technology cost transparency, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, translate them into system configurations, and maintain a clean and scalable Apptio environment.
- Design, develop, and maintain insightful dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau, and other BI tools.
- Provide expertise on TBM taxonomy, cost modeling, allocation methodologies, and chargeback/showback strategies.
- Drive improvements in IT financial management processes, leveraging best practices in technology cost optimization.
- Monitor data flows and integrations between Apptio and source systems (e.g., ERP, CMDB, time-tracking tools), ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Partner with Finance and IT to support budgeting, planning, variance analysis, and cost recovery processes.
- Train and support end-users across Finance, IT, and business units on Apptio and dashboarding tools.
- Stay current on Apptio releases, TBM practices, and financial systems trends to recommend ongoing improvements.
Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of experience in Financial Systems, IT Financial Management (ITFM), or Technology Business Management roles.
- Hands-on experience with Apptio, particularly the TBM module (Cost Transparency, Bill of IT, etc.).
- Strong experience with data visualization and dashboard tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Solid understanding of financial planning processes, technology cost structures, and data modeling.
- Ability to work with large, complex datasets and translate them into clear, actionable insights.
- Familiarity with financial systems integrations and data pipelines (e.g., connecting ERP, HRIS, and CMDB to Apptio).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across technical and non-technical functions.
- TBM certification and/or Apptio certifications are a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with other ITFM or EPM tools (e.g., Anaplan, Oracle, Adaptive).
- Experience working in a consulting or client-facing role.
- Understanding of cloud cost management (e.g., AWS, Azure) and how it integrates with TBM.
