Objective As an Applied Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and integrating software-driven automation solutions for the semiconductor industry. This position bridges both the design and application aspects of Fabmatics systems-supporting software development, system integration, project planning, and customer-specific customization. You'll work closely with internal teams and directly with customers to design, test, implement, and support advanced AMHS (automated material handling systems) and robotics platforms.
Scope of Duties & Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: - Analyze user and system requirements to design and implement customized software solutions.
- Support system commissioning and optimization at customer sites, ensuring full functionality and system performance.
- Remotely troubleshoot and improve existing Fabmatics solutions in collaboration with global teams.
- Collaborate with customer CIM teams and internal engineering groups to integrate control software into automation environments.
- Conduct factory assessments and lead design discussions for AMHS layout and carrier logistics.
- Design and deliver system solutions using CAD and 3D modeling tools when necessary.
- Lead or support project activities including requirements gathering, planning, internal communication, and documentation.
- Prepare and maintain measurement and performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with cleanroom protocols during onsite work.
- Serve as a customer-facing representative, ensuring clear communication and quality service throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry required.
- 5+ years of demonstrated technical experience in system requirements and software-driven project environments.
- Hands-on experience in automation solutions, including robotics and AMHS integration.
- Familiarity with semiconductor fab environments and KPIs (cycle time, capacity, utilization, etc.).
- Strong understanding of software development and deployment processes-C/C preferred.
- Knowledge of N2 purge systems and smart load port software implementation is a plus.
- Proficiency with CAD/3D modeling tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo).
- Experience working with PLCs, MMIs, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and a strong sense of ownership.
- Professional communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- German language proficiency is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to travel 30-50% of the time and work in cleanroom environments.
