DescriptionJOB SUMMARY The IT Analyst analyzes, designs, and implements large and complex information systems and networks. Incumbents work with various departments to automate business processes; assists with testing and validating new software prior to implementation.
Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Performs system administration activities, which includes: coordinating the configuration, testing, and implementation of networks, operating systems, servers, desktops, and related application software upgrades; applies applicable software patches, fixes, system parameters, and other related items.
- Analyzes complex IT problems or information; determines system capacity and recommends system changes; suggests, designs, tests, implements, troubleshoots, and evaluates complex IT solutions.
- Provides project management, which includes: developing project schedules; leading spatial data development efforts including methodologies for data development and integration; planning for use of resources such as time, money, and people; designing and implementing networking solutions; analyzing, designing, converting, testing, and implementing programming and database solutions; providing updates; and shifting priorities as needed.
- Implements and maintains the performance of assigned databases; provides database backup, recovery, and system management.
- Provides support for assigned applications (such as mobile or web applications); maintains security for users for that application; debugs problems; provides support for users; and coordinates upgrades with servers.
- Performs coding (SQL or PHP).
- Develops Php/JavaScript API; creates SSRS reports to assist departments with data analysis; creates SQL scripts to extract data for reports; and provides reports to various departments.
- Confers with vendors in resolving complex troubleshooting and/or repair issues.
- Coordinates and implements software and application upgrades;
- Completes helpdesk requests that may arise; troubleshoots computer problems; determines cause of issues; and corrects problems.
- Maintains records of activities and prepares operational reports.
- Maintains and administers AWS server; shrinks log files in SQL server to maintain lower storage use; monitors assigned servers and their logs in order to maintain the SharePoint farm; and assigns permissions, modifies themes and writing code to change the look and feel of the sites; and creates lists/libraries.
- Provides training for users as appropriate and needed.
- Creates and/or modifies documents utilizing various Microsoft suite products or Adobe PDFs that may be used to inform County employees of various occurrences, gather information, or document software, reports, or changes; creates documents that show the breakdown of a workflow to be used for training or information purposes.
- Interfaces with employees to access their payroll records; provide an online portal for job listings and applications.
- Performs system back-ups.
- Participates in developing/maintaining a disaster recovery plan.
- Performs research on software for the purpose of purchasing.
- Flies drones to take photos and videos for mapping purposes and UAS maintenance.
- Utilizes different software to modify/convert/compress graphic and audio files to use in other applications.
- Coordinates work with coworkers and others in the County.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level.
Typical QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: - Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications: - Android Developers Certification, IOS Developers Certification, and Web Developer Certification desired.
Supplemental InformationAll applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
