Job Summary: Technical lead for suspension damper design and development in vehicle program applications.
Primary point of contact for OEM customers regarding Mando damper design and development.
Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed): - Overall technical lead for suspension damper and damper module programs
- Primary interface with the customer's engineers for technical issues and development status tracking
- Problem Solving - resolving technical issues during component testing, customer vehicle development and regular production
- New Business Pursuit - evaluation of customer requirements, development of compliant responses, and negotiation of acceptable alternatives as part of the team
- Program Timing - creation, maintenance, and tracking of engineering timelines
- Open Issues - management of open issues list and coordination with Program Management
- DVP&R - leadership of DV and PV testing activities with cross-functional support
- Prototype builds - management of prototype builds
- Gate reviews - Information gathering for gate reviews in coordination with Program Management and the extended team
- Coordination and management of program launch activities
Qualifications Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Equivalent Core Education
- Minimum 5 years of experience in chassis product design and development
Skills and Competencies:
- Understanding of North American OEM Operating, APQP, and validation requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Comprehension of FEA/CAE reporting
- Ability to coordinate and track goals and objectives on multiple programs, driving tasks to completion
- Ability to set priorities and occasionally operate in an unstructured environment to meet goals
- Minimum 5 years of experience directly in suspension damper design, development, and validation preferred
- In-depth understanding of damper operation, function, and technologies, including adaptive preferred
- Broad-based understanding of suspension sub-systems preferred
- Understanding of OEM damper validation and APQP requirements preferred
- Ability to quickly apply issue investigation tools for root cause analysis preferred
Working Conditions:- Office environment
- Occasional domestic and international travel
- Occasional lab work handling and evaluating physical parts
Physical Requirements:- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 25 lbs.
Remote Work: Eligible for hybrid work schedule
