About the job:
As a member of the US Conec Applications Engineering team, you will leverage expertise in our products and connector assembly processes to enable the success of our customers through delivery and support of the US Conec Training Program. Key job activities will include leading training classes on our products and recommended processes, developing training materials for new products, and evolving the training content through a focus on expansion of training content into increasingly technical program areas.
What you will do:
• Support the execution of the US Conec training program to include tasks and responsibilities, such as:
• Lead technical training classes for US Conec's customers
• Maintain existing and develop new in-person and virtual training content
• Support the maintenance and operations of the training labs
• Manage preparation for training classes
• Support post-training follow-up activities to ensure our customers' success
• Represent US Conec's Core Values through frequent direct interaction with our customers
• Provide technical support to customers in areas of both product and process engineering for new and existing products and processes
• Function in a technical laboratory environment including the design of experiments, evaluation and trouble-shooting of processes and products, etc.
• Travel to customers' sites to provide on-site training and/or support in their factories / facilities
Equipment you will use
• Contact gauging equipment, such as calipers, and micrometers
• Optical test equipment, optical fiber termination and measurement equipment, microscopes, environmental chambers, and vision measurement systems with associated software
• MS Office Suite
• Data analysis software such as MatLab, JMP, and/or Minitab
• Corporate collaboration and work-flow software
• Enterprise Resource Planning software
Requirements
What we'd like you to have:
• Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal (formal and informal) and written communications with an emphasis on organizing and succinctly conveying ideas and information contained in the US Conec training material
• B.S. degree in engineering with a preference for mechanical, electrical, or optical engineering
• 2 to 5 years of prior experience in a role involving the direct interaction with customers and/or the optical fiber, cable, or connectivity industry
• Ability to work as part of a highly-collaborative organization
• Desire to be flexible while working in a dynamic environment involving multi-tasking and frequent changes in priorities
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering statistics
• Ability to establish hypotheses, write experimental plans, analyze test results, draw responsible technical conclusions, and recommend next steps to a group of colleagues and/or stake holders
• Knowledge of basic engineering principals in optical science, mechanical design, and/or fiber optics
• Ability to teach and convey highly-technical ideas to audiences with a varying degree of technical background
• Willingness to travel, domestic and international up to 20%
