Special Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  1. BS in Engineering or Physics and 2 years of experience as an Applications Engineer or 5 years or more of work experience as an Applications Engineer.
  2. Knowledge of metal forming, custom stamping, heat treating, plating and chemical milling processes.
  3. Ability to act independently to the technical challenges and demands presented by customers. Ability to identify solutions and undertake activities to resolve those demands.
  4. Proficient with Visual Est-Trak or other Manufacturing ERP software programs.
  5. Proficient in Solid Works.
  6. Strong oral and written communications skills.
  7. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  8. Ability to develop and implement recommendations for resolving difficult issues in a professional and efficient manner.
  9. Professional approach to dealing with internal and external customers.
  10. Willingness to take ownership of customer issues and see them through to a successful resolution.
Key Job Tasks:

  1. Provide Technical product and application support to Orbel's customers, prospects, internal and external sales team.
  2. Perform detailed reviews of customer specifications, providing comments, clarifications, and alternatives to customer requirements. For opportunities that are on the fringe of Orbel's core competencies, bring them to Sales and Senior Management to determine if this is an opportunity fitting Orbel's strategic plan.
  3. Develop cost estimates for opportunities that cannot be handled by the sales team.
  4. Communicate directly with the customer supporting request in a timely manner via phone, email, and visits. Update the CRM module with any information corresponding to any open projects
  5. Review program "must have" requirements with engineering, operations and materials to provide a proposal to sales that meets customer's requirements.
  6. As required by sales, review the quote/proposal with the customer to assure Orbel has addressed all requirements of the Request for Proposal Update Quote as requested by sales.
  7. Escalate to Senior Management, out of the ordinary business issues, which need to be addressed with the customer.
  8. Manage quotes for new requirements through the facility. Coordinate with Purchasing, Operations, Planning, and Design Engineering as required; keeping the Sales Team updated on status of the requirements.
  9. When an order is placed for a new part, pull together the applicable backup, select the correct routing and transfer that information over to Operations, Materials, Quality, and Engineering. Work with Engineering and Operations to assure information is transferred and follow up on status as required.
  10. Attend training to develop relevant product knowledge, sales techniques, and skills.
  11. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  12. Present a professional image to customers and suppliers.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales and Senior Management
