We invite you to explore our website at for more information about our company and our products Testek Solutions is currently seeking an Application Engineer.Position Overview The Applications Engineer is responsible for preparing Technical and Commercial proposal packages that satisfy customer Request for Quote (RFQ) requests. Reporting to the Director Applications Engineering, this role is an important part of Business Development. It directly drives Bookings Metrics. It is critical in supporting Sales in their efforts to develop and grow relationships with a wide range of customers including Airframe Manufacturers, Component Manufacturers, and Maintenance Organizations. This role supports the program launch activities by conveying budget, schedule, and deliverable requirements to Program Management, Engineering, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities - Deliver Bid and Proposal Packages
- Customer Deliverables Review. From formal and informal customer RFQs, identify the program equipment, data, and/or services to be supplied using a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) approach.
- System Architecture. Review technical documents, including the customer statement of work and Unit Under Test (UUT) test procedures, and establish equipment performance criteria. From the criteria, identify solutions to be proposed.
- Risk Assessment. Assess program risks, identify impact, and prepare mitigation plan for delivery to the customer and internal departments.
- Cost and Schedule Model. Prepare a WBS-oriented material cost and labor model, supported with Major Purchased Items (MPI) quotes and applicable historical references. Prepare a schedule using Microsoft Project highlighting program milestones, component lead times, and major program phases.
- Technical and Commercial Proposal. Develop a Technical Proposal which conveys to the customer that Testek is fully capable of satisfying the program requirements. Develop a Commercial Proposal that provides the necessary business-oriented information such as invoice scheduling and terms and conditions.
- Program Launch Support. Assist with the transition of the program from quote to order by providing guidance and clarification during kickoff meetings.
- Provide Strategic Feedback
- Based on incoming quote requests, identify product capability and product option/configurations that are desirable in the marketplace.
- Support ongoing activities to document equipment and UUT solutions for future reference and continuous improvement activities.
Key Skills and Competencies - Excellent written and verbal communication skills for performing Analysis of Alternatives (AOA) and conveying the selected solution to customers with a wide-ranging set of business interests, technical interests, and English language understanding.
- Professionally oriented initiative to act independently, develop solutions without waiting for explicit instructions or direction, engage supply-chain partners, and coordinate feedback from Engineering and Operations.
- Superior technical skills with Microsoft Office Tools, especially Excel, for integrating data between different business systems into cost models, performing technical analysis of RFQ specifications, and creating charts/graphs to convey equipment capability and performance.
- Continuous Improvement mindset understanding that the tools and techniques which allow for present success can also be the hinderance for moving to the next level of performance.
Qualifications and Experience - Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics/Hydraulics), Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics Degree.
- Minimum three (3) years design experience incorporating at least one year of estimating/costing and presentations/proposals is highly desirable.
- Experience with Aircraft Component Test Stands is highly desirable.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residence is required.
