Summary
We are seeking an Application Engineer with a minimum of 7 years of experience in an application engineering or inside sales role within the pump and controls industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in positive displacement pumps, pump control systems, and the ability to review and quote based on engineering specifications.
In this role, you will work closely with our sales team, distributors, engineers, and end-users to analyze application requirements, develop technical proposals, and recommend optimal solutions. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that our solutions meet customer needs, industry standards, and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Sales & Application Support
Provide technical expertise to sales representatives, distributors, and end-users to recommend the best pump and control system solutions.
Assess and analyze customer application requirements, including system performance needs, material compatibility, and fluid characteristics.
Support the distributor network and internal sales team with product selection, sizing, and application guidance.
2. Engineering & Quoting
Review and interpret engineering specifications and project documentation to prepare accurate and competitive quotations.
Develop detailed technical proposals, including system layouts, pricing, and performance data.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and best practices in quoting and specification development.
Assist in the preparation of technical bid packages and RFQ responses.
3. Controls & System Integration Support
Provide guidance on pump control systems, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, sensors, and automation solutions.
Assist customers in integrating pumps with control panels for optimized operation and performance monitoring.
Work with customers and internal engineering teams to ensure proper selection of motor controls, power requirements, and automation compatibility.

4. Collaboration & Training
Work closely with product development, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure proper system design and integration.
Conduct product training sessions for distributors, customers, and sales teams to enhance their understanding of Vogelsangs solutions.
Act as a technical liaison between customers and Vogelsangs engineering and R&D teams.

Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Application Engineering or Inside Sales in the pump and controls industry.
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Extensive knowledge of positive displacement pumps (rotary lobe, progressive cavity, gear, or diaphragm pumps).
Experience in reviewing, interpreting, and quoting from engineering specifications.
Strong background in pump selection, system design, and performance analysis.
Familiarity with pump control systems, automation, and electrical integration (VFDs, PLCs, sensors).
Ability to develop technical proposals, quotations, and bid responses with a high degree of accuracy.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), CRM systems, and CAD software (preferred but not required).
Preferred:
Experience in wastewater, industrial processing, or agricultural applications.
Working knowledge of fluid dynamics, mechanical seals, and material compatibility.
Prior experience collaborating with OEMs, engineering firms, and large industrial customers.
