Responsibilities & Duties Sales Support - Concepting and Pricing
o Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create conceptual layouts and designs to provide visuals for customers to aid in the sales process
o Engage directly with customers to define details on SOWs, iterate on concept proposal, align system cost to ROI model, and be involved in the presentation of the proposal.
o Conduct an initial technical review of new sales opportunities
o Specify and Quote OEM systems that will be integrated as part of the sales opportunity
o Stay on the cutting edge of technology to ensure customers receive the most reliable and innovative solution.
Sales Support - Proposal
o Developing a comprehensive quote package that incorporates necessary documentation for internal and external audiences such as Risk Assessments, Flow Charts, Cycle Time Charts, etc.
o Develop pricing, descriptive proposal, and Robotic simulations (when needed).
o Ensure all key technical details pertaining to the quote are contained and addressed within the documentation being presented to the customer.
o Present conceptual designs, pricing, and proposals to customers, clearly articulating the value proposition of the system and addressing any questions or concerns the customer may have.
Post-Sale Execution Support
o Collaborate with project execution engineers, project management, and supply chain teams to ensure successful project design and deployment.
o Prepare Job Change Orders (JCO's) identified during production of sales orders
o Conduct project review post system execution to understand opportunities for improvement when outlining system components and budgeting system costs.
o Assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution, maintain customer satisfaction, and ensure proper service levels
Misc Activities
o Develop and maintain quoting tools such as pricing sheets, standard drawing block/templates, proposal templates, ect.
o Travel, as required, to customer facilities to support sales engineers in data collection and on-site project scope reviews.
o Develop internal win strategy and execution, understanding customer pain points, and facilitating quote development towards a winning quote package.
o Maintain Applications Engineering related fields in company CRM (Saleforce/Wrike).
Continuously look for new and innovative ways to streamline processes to not only reduce lead time to generate proposals but also improve quality of content being provided to customers.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners to convey technical requirements, project timelines, and design considerations.
Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment within the engineering team.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field or 10+ years of relevant field experience.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or applications engineering with a focus on machine/ system design, development, and integration.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and occasional use of simulation tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving projects to successful completion.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Engineering, Master's degree in Business Administration, or other advanced degree
Experience working in a custom automation integrator or machine builder environment
Experience mentoring or managing junior engineers within team to grow and develop talent within an organization.
- Experience with PLC controls or robotic programming.
