Background
SPS designs and manufactures high efficiency process equipment, primarily for the oil and gas industry. This process equipment combines the mechanical design requirements of the ASME Code with proprietary internal components sized and configured to meet the requirements of each customer's individual application.
SPS' applications department is responsible for selecting, designing, sizing, and quoting process equipment; this includes producing informational datasheets and commercial proposals for customer requests. In addition, the applications department is responsible for the development of design standards, guidelines, and tools to assist engineers.
SPS currently has an opening for an Application Engineer. The successful candidate will work within the Sales/Applications department in the areas of sizing/quoting separators, instrumentation, retrofits, service testing and skids for customer's applications and inquiries.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Review customer specs in RFQ packages to comprehend and document all mechanical/process requirements for specified equipment.
Produce and prepare for internal and external submission: commercial proposal letters, technical datasheets, sketches, cost estimates, terms, calculations, etc.
Responsible for customer service management: call on/host customers with local sales reps and independently to discuss projects & promote SPS services through sales meetings, Lunch and Learn events and trade shows (limited travel may be required).
Track outstanding inquiries. Prepare sales report of existing and potential accounts.
Assist Engineering with drawing check/approvals during backlogs. Review engineering documents, specifications, and drawings for project compliance.
Perform pertinent project management duties and communicate with both internal and external parties efficiently and effectively.
Coordinate with Engineering, Sub-Contractors and Customers to ensure timely delivery of all quotations and projects.
Work with Management and Engineering to focus development resources on new product lines as well as supplemental products.
Ability to read, interpret and create PFD's, P&ID's and other process schematics.
Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize/ manage strict deadlines.
Ability to perform occasional heavy lifting ( 50 lbs.) and shop skills (piping hook-up, fastener tightening, general mechanical equipment operation, low-current electrical troubleshooting, etc.) for setting up internal research & development tasks.
