We are seeking a motivated Computer Science student to join our IT team as an intern. The intern will assist with the application development, deployment and support of engineering and business applications. This role provides a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in understanding various industry standard products used in engineering design, and the software that supports an engineering focused enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Small Scope Development activities and utilities
- Assist in developing a deployment pipeline for software releases to testing environments. This involves collaborating with the packaging team to design the pipeline and defining a user acceptance testing (UAT) plan.
- Audit software documentation to validate Software Asset Management (SAM).
- Develop Power BI reports against multiple team data sources.
- Prototype reports and present outputs.
- Research technology and present options with implementation plan
- Automated testing tools.
- New copy protection methods.
- Replacements for FTP file transfer
- AI tools for improving development processes .
This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with the expectation of 3 days per week in our Chicago, IL office, and 2 days remote from home.
We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
Qualifications
Essential skills and experience:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or a Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and software deployment concepts.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute with a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Skills (not required):
Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts, CI/CD, testing, data analysis, scripting, security, and research, tailored to tasks like building deployment pipelines, auditing software, creating reports, and researching new technologies.
