As an Appeals Administrative Support Staff member, you will provide advanced administrative support services to appeals activities regarding the state fair hearings and MNsure Marketplace. The incumbent will be part of the primary administrative support staff responsible to facilitate program integrity and the efficient operations of the program which processes 14,000 to 16,000 program appeals each year.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
  • Opening public assistance and MNsure appeal cases in the Appeals Case Management database.
  • Preparing and mailing (or where appropriate sending via electronic media) hearing notices, decisions and other legal correspondence within required timeframes.
  • Scanning and indexing documents into an electronic data management system.
  • Maintaining data on fair hearings in the Appeals Case Management database program so that manual maintenance of records is minimized, cases can be tracked efficiently, and division management can be measured.
  • Providing customer service to parties, agencies and the general public via telephone and email.
  • Performing general clerical and record management tasks.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Customer Service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through e-mail and other written correspondence.
  • Data Entry skills sufficient to input data quickly and accurately.
  • Database Management skills sufficient to create and update databases.
  • Spreadsheets skills sufficient to create and update spreadsheets.
  • Typing/Keyboarding skills sufficient to accurately type information into various formats.
  • Word processing skills sufficient to type correspondence, reports and other written material.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience with Curam, MAXIS and MMIS to find and verify data on appellants and enter it into the Appeals Microsoft Access database.
  • Knowledge of human services law and programs and the structure of the public assistance and public health care systems.
  • Basic knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Experience with administrative law procedures and the administrative fair hearing process.
  • Ability to use multifunctioning devices, standalone printers with envelope feeders and scanners.
  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
