Job Title: Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Job Type: Direct Hire, Permanent - Full Time
Pay: $23 to $25 per hour



Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to join our finance team. The AP Specialist will be responsible for managing the company's payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, reconciling vendor accounts, and maintaining financial records. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with internal departments and external vendors.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Process invoices, expense reports, and payment requests while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.

  • Match invoices to purchase orders and verify receipt of goods or services.

  • Obtain proper approvals and documentation for all payments.

  • Prepare and execute payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or disputes.

  • Maintain organized financial records and support month-end closing processes.

  • Assist in preparing AP-related reports and supporting audits.

  • Communicate with vendors and internal departments to address invoice/payment inquiries.

  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are made on time and in compliance with payment terms.

  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency in the AP function.



Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in accounts payable

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable principles and best practices.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a high-volume AP environment.

  • Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and automated AP processes.
