Position Overview
A hospital in central Vermont is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Anesthesiologist for a long-term locum tenens assignment beginning in July 2025. This hybrid role involves solo coverage and medical direction of CRNAs and AAs , with a shared 24-hour call schedule. The ideal candidate has strong procedural competency, is team-oriented, and can respond within 20 minutes while on home call. Assignment Highlights
• HPA Healthcare is a Joint Commission-certified agency
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• Call Structure:
• Shared 24-hour weekday and weekend call
• 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM: in-house clinical hours
• 5:00 PM - 7:00 AM: home call (20-minute response time required)
• In-house call room provided
• Weekday Responsibilities:
• On Call Days: Medical direction of 2-3 ORs with CRNAs/AAs
• Non-Call Days: Solo cases, often covering endoscopy, OB, or bronchoscopy
• Required Procedures:
• Regional blocks (orthopedic)
• Spinal/epidural for OB
• Central lines, arterial lines
• Airway management (intubations, LMAs)
• Case Volume:
• 4-5 cases/day (standard)
• Up to 10/day for cataract blocks
• EMR: Epic
• Pre-paid travel and lodging
• Malpractice insurance provided Skills & Experience
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
• Active Vermont medical license (preferred)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS (required)
• Experience supervising CRNAs/AAs and performing regional/OB anesthesia
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
