Coverage Needed

• May 27, 2025 - ongoing
• Schedule: Monday-Wednesday-Friday 6:30 am-3:00 pm; Tuesday-Thursday 7:00 am-3:30 pm
  • will stay later if help is needed in non-cardiac cases or the cardiac case is not finished
• Specific Weeks: May 27, June 9, June 23, June 30, July 7, July 31, August 4, December 26

Clinical Details

• Practice Setting: Hospital-based with occasional oversight of CRNAs at an ASC if no cardiac cases are scheduled
• EMR: Cerner transitioning to EPIC, some paper documentation
• Support Staff: Predominantly solo cases with CRNA students rotating through, so will need to be okay with students in the operating room. Partners oversee any supervision/direction.
• Average Surgical Cases: Cardiac surgeries 1/day, but not every day; 5-7 general cases/day
  • Must help cover general if no cardiac cases
• Number of Anesthesiologists: 6
• Patient Demographics: Adolescent, Child, Adult, Geriatric
  • Very sick children are referred to other hospitals
• Operating Rooms: 8 in use simultaneously
• Annual Cardiac Cases: Projecting 90 open heart cases this year
• Growing hospital cardiac surgery program
• Trauma Level II

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiac Anesthesiology (preferred)
• Active Iowa license or IMLC - Highly Preferred
  • will accept candidates without license
• TEE Certified
• Iowa CSR
• DEA
• Cardiac Fellowship (preferred) or extensive experience with TEE certification
• BLS, ACLS, PALS
• COVID Vaccinated
