- Credentialing Timeframe: 8 - 12 weeks
- License: An active Iowa state license or IMLC membership is required
- EMR: Cerner - moving to EPIC, some paper
- Must be Board-Certified or Board-Eligible
- Other Details: A locum Cardiac Anesthesiologist is needed to provide coverage at a growing hospital-based cardiac surgery program in Iowa for the following weeks: May 27, June 9, June 23, June 30, July 7, July 31, and December 26. The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with 8 operating rooms in use at a time, averaging 1 cardiac surgery per day (not daily) and 5 7 general cases per day; the locum must cover general anesthesia when no cardiac cases are scheduled. The position is predominantly solo practice, though CRNA students may be present in the OR. On rare occasions, oversight at an ASC may be needed. Documentation is done via Cerner (transitioning to EPIC) and some paper charting. Candidates must be TEE certified (able to interpret and bill), hold an active Iowa license or be IMLC eligible with LOQ uploaded at submission, and be board certified or board eligible in Cardiac Anesthesiology (cardiac fellowship preferred or equivalent experience). BLS, ACLS, PALS, and full COVID vaccination are required. The program expects to perform approximately 90 cardiac cases this year and has recently stabilized with a cardiac surgeon under contract.
