HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week SALARY: $116,168 per year EMPLOYER: Semtech Corporation JOBSITE: 200 Flynn Road Camarillo, CA 93012 Job Duties: Design, develop, and process the materials necessary to manufacture various products within the Semtech Protection business unit. Responsible for all phases of new product development lifecycles, from market definition to analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit (IC) design and mass production releases. Design and develop leading-edge circuit protection products (electrostatic discharge and transient voltage suppressors), applying knowledge of IC design, advanced semiconductor transistors, and semiconductor physics. Collaborate with Applications Engineers and Marketing personnel on the design, development (definition and specifications), and testing of new Protection products, based on product development roadmaps. Perform evaluation of process/design capabilities from various foundries, and work with Product, Process, and Test Engineering teams to improve product quality and manufacturability, utilizing Electronic Design Automation (EDA) design tools. Use knowledge of materials science to review all phases of the product development lifecycle, including the definition, design and simulation, material selection (based on design objectives such as strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost), validation, and qualification of new products. Perform electrical device characterization data analysis to verify device model and performance. Conduct continuous quality improvement activities through data analysis, root cause identification, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions across the product development lifecycle. Provide engineering support to subcontractors, including yield analysis, transfer and set-up of new products, statistical analysis, and technical troubleshooting of development issues. Collaborate with the Process Integration team to propose silicon wafer process flow and Design of Experiments (DoE) process conditions for prototype trials. Utilize analog circuit characterization techniques to compile and evaluate performance data to determine appropriate limits and methods for new processes. Use good written communication skills to develop processes to meet the demands of new product development roadmaps, and recommend and prepare additions and modifications to existing processes to facilitate manufacturing. Ensure finished products adhere to specifications and quality control (QC) standards prior to release. Conduct silicon design feasibility studies based on device modelling and simulation, using TCAD, PSpice, and Cadence software. Use good oral communication skills to host design review meetings with Product Engineers, Integration Engineers, and Test Engineers to mitigate development risks and to ensure expeditious product releases to production. May work several days per week remotely from home (within Ventura County area). Schedule subject to manager approval. Requirements: 1. Masters degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field. 2.
