OVERVIEW Avenue Community Development Corporation (Avenue) is a Houston, Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides and preserves affordable housing for low-income families and individuals. The outreach coordinator VISTA participates in a variety of fund development and communications activities, especially marketing and outreach to community stakeholders, communications and stewardship of corporate partner volunteers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The outreach coordinator VISTA will perform duties and tasks with respect to raising community awareness and engagement and corporate volunteer recruitment, many of which require thoughtful consideration and analysis of our donor database and available donor data.
Community Awareness and Engagement - Creates and strengthens Avenue's social media strategy by consolidating content to reflect Avenue's three branches of service: affordable housing, homeowner education and community initiatives
- Develops materials to conduct outreach to raise community awareness of Avenue's services for target service group and to increase donor engagement in support of Avenue
- Liaise with the Fund Development Associate for Events and Marketing on marketing materials and leads ordering, distributing and managing relationships with design and print vendors
- Collaborate with Resident Services, Fund Development and Community Initiatives teams to develop outreach materials including, but not limited to, social media posts, media kits for press and public service announcements
- For events and programs across Avenue, establish volunteer recruitment marketing strategy
- Responsible for donor communication of corporate volunteer events, including requires volunteer coordination, signage and on-site day of event activities
Database and Administrative Tasks (30% of time) - Maintain corporation and individual constituent files to reflect Avenue's interactions with volunteers and community members
- Integrate data through consistently monitoring synchronizations and regular file import/exports, and record updates
- Work with Fund Development team to create or manage reports on volunteer and community interactions with Avenue
- Serve as subject matter expert on volunteer engagement and management for both Fund Development and Programs teams
- Track volunteer interest and communication
- Liaise with the Fund Development Associate for Events and Marketing on marketing materials and leads ordering, distributing and managing relationships with design and print vendors
Volunteer Recruitment and Management - Follow procedure for gift entry and acknowledgment with assistance of executive team (receptionist and executive assistant)
- Manage solicitation and acknowledgment letters and other correspondence as requested. Appropriately file and document to database and on server
- Ensure fulfillment of donor recognition requirements (such as on printed materials, signage & website)
- Document donor-related events such as check presentation, volunteer events, community events, etc. for the purpose of donor stewardship
- Assist with identification and cultivation of donor prospects

QUALIFICATIONS
Required - Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience developing and maintaining social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram)
- Must have reliable transportation with a valid driver's license
Preferred - Bachelor's degree in marketing, or related field
- Experience using Sprout Social
- Proficiency with design/publishing software, donor management software, and web research techniques
