JOB SUMMARY: Adak Island Inn's hotel manager is a unique opportunity to operate a hotel in remote Adak, Alaska. This position requires living in Adak, AK.
Housing and vehicle are provided by Aleut Ventures. The hotel is made up of townhouse units spread throughout Adak's Sandy Cove neighborhood, managed by a central office. The Hotel Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the Adak Island Inn; assists guests with arrival, departure, and housekeeping; coordinates with Aleut Ventures (AV) staff on-island for minor maintenance/construction projects. This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Embrace the mission, values, and strategic goals of Aleut Ventures and Aleut.
- Schedule, change, and cancel reservations for guests as needed using the property management system (PMS).
- Greet guests from the Adak Airport or the Port of Adak when they arrive on-island.
- Act as a liaison between clients, guests, and the AV office in Anchorage.
- Collect, sort, open, and date all incoming mail for distribution or pickup.
- Attend meetings with AV leadership as needed to review Adak Island Inn operations.
- Partner with other Aleut Ventures businesses in Adak to ensure housing and logistics activities are supported as needed.
- Ensure hotel units receive housekeeping as needed.
- Ensure office equipment is maintained and operational; coordinate with support services for needed repairs or supplies.
- Develop routine and annual maintenance inspection programs. Conduct and document inspections; organize and plan maintenance activities so they can be performed timely and efficiently.
- Coordinate with local, remote, and out-of-state vendors to ensure needed supplies are always available.
- Coordinate and manage minor construction/maintenance projects with other on-island AV staff.
- Report on and document operational progress/project status and make recommendations to management.
- Track and manage hotel revenue, utilities expenses, custodial, and maintenance reports.
- Assist in development of annual budget and periodic budget reviews.
- Handle purchase orders and petty cash.
- Order and manage inventory.
- Maintain tenant and customer files.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Use basic PMS to maintain hotel reservations, housekeeping status, and maintenance needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Three (3) years' experience managing a hotel, lodge or man camp.
- Must possess and maintain a current Alaska Driver's License.
- Must not be barred from receiving a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - General office demands.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Must have ability to maintain assigned work hours in a 40+ work hour environment.
