Experience: Minimum of 1 year of progressive clinical experience or 1 year of hospital internship subsequent to degree

License: Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist Certification

Certifications: American Medical Technologists (AMT), Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP) - American Society of Clinical Pathologists, or equivalent certification

Must-Have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field or equivalent work-related experience
- Knowledge of laboratory testing, including CLIA-defined high-complexity testing
- Proficiency with LIS operation and various laboratory software applications
- Understanding of quality control, CLIA, Joint Commission, CAP, and other regulatory requirements

Job Description:
- Apply advanced technical skills to perform a range of sample test analyses and laboratory services in a hospital-based laboratory.
- Ensure 24-hour laboratory coverage with potential shift work, including nights and weekends.
- Conduct all levels of testing, including high-complexity testing, and work with patients of all ages.
- Manage all technical aspects of the laboratory, resolving complex problems and ensuring high-stakes decisions.
- Write and update procedures using the CLSI format, coordinate reviews, and manage quality control programs.
- Train new employees and provide regular training to technologists as needed.
- Assist with evaluating the competency of testing personnel and participate in process improvement activities.
- Implement CAP standards and CLIA regulations in the department.
- Maintain inventory levels and laboratory equipment, ensuring quality control and functionality.
- Evaluate, judge, and interpret test results, maintaining accuracy and resolving inconsistencies.
- Provide expertise in specialized areas such as microbiology, transfusion medicine, and molecular biology.
- Train staff and laboratory students, participate in continuing education programs, and maintain inventory.
- Prepare the laboratory for inspections from regulatory institutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
