Primary Responsibilities:

Candidate will provide support to the USG AIRWorks (AWx) Portfolio Manager in meeting project requirements for the Navy Test Pilot School (N-TPS) Airborne Systems Training and Research Support (ASTARS) Flying Classroom project. Support includes trouble shooting the avionics systems within the current N-TPS ASTARS Flying Classroom, support of N-TPS as a N-TPS Lab Subject Matter Expert (SME) and assisting the AWx Team in the development of procurement artifacts for the integration of a new RADAR system for the ASTARS Flying Classroom. Artifacts may include the development of system requirements, Statement of Work (SOW), cost estimation, and review of sensor/platform interfaces.

Candidate will support ASTARS project activities to include review of current ASTARS system capabilities, review of system trouble shooting procedures, and the development of recommendations to make the Flying Classroom more useful to N-TPS and students.

The Candidate will be responsible for supporting the current N-TPS Lab SME and will assist in conducting a trade study to determine a suitable RADAR upgrade for integration into the ASTARS aircraft.

Tasks Performed:

The Candidate will support AWx Portfolio/Project Lead in supporting the current N-TPS ASTARS project by providing:

RADAR expertise with system trouble shooting and tracking of system faults in order to develop mitigation strategies to optimize availability of the ASTARS Flying Classroom.
Develop Courses of Action (COA)s that can be implemented to support N-TPS operations while a RADAR improvement option is investigated.
Support an ASTARS RADAR trade study through the analysis of vendor data and system requirements.
Develop various analysis and recommendations for the selection of an ASTARS RADAR improvement COA.
Support integration planning for integration of a RADAR improvement project into the ASTARS aircraft.
Support the drafting of an RFI for an ASTARS RADAR improvement industry query.
Develop RFI/RFP artifacts to include: Statements of Work (SOW), System Performance Specifications, Cost Estimates, GFE Lists, and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL).

Education/Experience:

SENIOR: A Senior level person within a labor category has over 10 years of experience related to the functional duties for that labor category and a MA/MS degree in engineering.

Allowable Education/ Experience Substitutions:

Bachelor's Degree plus four (4) years of additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a master's degree.

Desired Experience:

Familiarity with NAVAIR Acquisition, SETR, and logistics processes
Ability to communicate and adapt well in dynamic team environments
Good organizational skills
