In long semester term, must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.In summer semester term, must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours.

Preferred:

Working toward a B.S. in agriculture.Experience and interest in interacting and relating to people Independent worker.Previous involvement in 4-H and or FFA.Basic knowledge of photography and videography Interest in a career in agriculture industry.

Primary Responsibilities:

Purpose of Job: Works with Agriculture and Industry Department faculty/staff to develop, create and manage communications and public relations efforts.Duties and Responsibilities:Design, create and maintain information displays on bulletin boards through the Turner Range Animal Science Building.Create and post flyers for activities and programs related to activities of interest to agriculture majors; Take photos and/or videos of activities and events involving students at TRAS, SRSU and the Alpine community.Draft press releases to be shared with the SRSU Office of University Communications; Create social media presence for Agriculture faculty, students and programs.Work directly with faculty to create and maintain safe and welcoming environment for students and visitors to TRAS facilities.Interact positively and professionally with individuals attending events, field days, and competitions hosted by the SRSU Ag and Industry Department.Exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
Supervision: direct supervision from Dr. Carl Igo for day to day instruction. Dr. Igo will also act as the Faculty Mentor within the Lobos Lead Program. One self-performance evaluation and supervisor performance evaluation to be conducted at least once per appointment cycle.
Lobos LEAD Program:The mission of Lobos LEAD is to provide students of Sul Ross State University the opportunity to take on leadership roles and employment opportunities that will translate into real world marketable skills, career preparation, and personal success. Initial pilot funding provided by the Title III LoboTrack to Success in STEM (LTS) grant, an initiative to engage the talent, motivation, energy, and aspirations from within our university community to address the identified national imperative to attract, retain, and graduate increased numbers of Hispanic and low-income students.
All other duties as assigned unique to the department. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others. This position is security sensitive.
