Aftermarket Applications Engineer (Sales)


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Applications Engineer to support technical sales efforts within Bachmann's Aftermarket division. Bachmann Industries manufactures dampers and expansion joints used worldwide in a diverse range of heavy industries including Power Generation, Petrochemical, Pulp and Paper, Cement, Mining, and Waste-to-Energy facilities. This Aftermarket role supports our customers with sales of Spare Parts, Field Service, and Custom Solutions. The ideal candidate will act as a trusted advisor to our customers with the goal of expanding sales opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and achieving sales targets.


Key Responsibilities


Proposal Generation:

  • Receive RFQ's, prepare accurate cost estimates, and prepare technical proposals and quotations based on customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to ensure high customer satisfaction and retention.

Sales Development:

  • Expand sales to existing Bachmann customers through proactive outreach.
  • Expand sales to non-Bachmann customers that could use our Aftermarket Parts and Service solutions.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with our internal teams to align on sales strategy, and obtain technical support resources as needed.
  • Coordinate with sales agents and representatives to follow up on accounts and maximize opportunities.

Reporting and Metrics:

  • Track and report sales activities, progress, and performance metrics using CRM tools and regular reporting structures.

Requirements


Experience:

  • 2-5 years in industrial sales.
  • Experience in steel fabrication a plus.
  • Experience with international customers a plus.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in mechanical engineering preferred but not required.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Experience with technical sales and customer service.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand the function of various components and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to establish material cost estimates for budgeting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for developing cost estimates.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools for tracking sales activities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good understanding of ISO Quality Management systems.
