Aftermarket Applications Engineer (Sales)
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Applications Engineer to support technical sales efforts within Bachmann's Aftermarket division. Bachmann Industries manufactures dampers and expansion joints used worldwide in a diverse range of heavy industries including Power Generation, Petrochemical, Pulp and Paper, Cement, Mining, and Waste-to-Energy facilities. This Aftermarket role supports our customers with sales of Spare Parts, Field Service, and Custom Solutions. The ideal candidate will act as a trusted advisor to our customers with the goal of expanding sales opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and achieving sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Generation:
- Receive RFQ's, prepare accurate cost estimates, and prepare technical proposals and quotations based on customer needs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to ensure high customer satisfaction and retention.
Sales Development:
- Expand sales to existing Bachmann customers through proactive outreach.
- Expand sales to non-Bachmann customers that could use our Aftermarket Parts and Service solutions.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with our internal teams to align on sales strategy, and obtain technical support resources as needed.
- Coordinate with sales agents and representatives to follow up on accounts and maximize opportunities.
Reporting and Metrics:
- Track and report sales activities, progress, and performance metrics using CRM tools and regular reporting structures.
Requirements
Experience:
- 2-5 years in industrial sales.
- Experience in steel fabrication a plus.
- Experience with international customers a plus.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in mechanical engineering preferred but not required.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Experience with technical sales and customer service.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand the function of various components and industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Ability to establish material cost estimates for budgeting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for developing cost estimates.
- Proficiency in CRM tools for tracking sales activities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good understanding of ISO Quality Management systems.
