This position is in the Computational Engineering team in DDCS, which plays a crucial role in enabling a rich pipeline of novel delivery devices. Responsibilities include developing mathematical models to predict behavior of components used in primary packaging and device delivery systems. This involves a fundamental understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and mechanics involved in modeling their functionality.
Key Objectives / Deliverables:
- Use in silico approaches to drive design improvements and mitigate technical risk in early and late phase device development
- Work with DDCS engineers and third parties to ensure proper physical testing is being performed to obtain accurate inputs for computational models
- Prepare and review appropriate portions of regulatory documents (IND/ CTX, CTD and annual updates) and key technical reports as it applies to simulation and modeling
- Interact with third parties, as needed, for external modeling and component design
- Clearly communicate relevant product and process risks based on numerical modeling results to ensure risks are relayed to DDCS management and appropriate business partners

Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Strong expertise in at least one commercial solver (e.g., Abaqus), and familiarity with others (e.g., Ansys, HyperMesh, COMSOL)
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing
- Knowledge of plastic part design guidelines
- Knowledge of the design control process for medical devices (e.g., ISO 13485)
