This position is within the Biotherapeutic Enabling Biology organization of Biotechnology Discovery Research. We are responsible for therapeutic target validation, developing in vitro and in vivo models for characterizing, and optimizing biotherapeutics from target to clinic candidates. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative scientist with a diversified background in cell-based assays and in vivo animal models to join our discovery research team within the Biotherapeutic Enabling Biology in Biotechnology Discovery Research at Lilly Research Labs, Indianapolis, Indiana. The successful candidate will join an interactive, collaborative, and innovative scientific team to discover and advance large molecule drugs to combat diseases in the diabetes, auto-immune diseases, cancer, neurodegenerative disease and pain.
Responsibilities
- Developing in vitro cell-based assays and in vivo models for evaluating large molecule targets, therapeutic antibodies, peptides, proteins for clinic development
- Evaluating biologics conjugations of protein, siRNA, small molecule inhibitor, or LNPs in relevant biological systems in vitro and in vivo.
- Providing technical leadership on targeted delivery of therapeutics to brain, adipocytes, DRG and other tissues, characterization of cell types relevant for disease modification, as well as molecule distribution and activities in in vivo animal models.
- Validating targets in working with therapeutic areas of diabetes, obesity and complications, auto-immune diseases, oncology, neurodegenerative diseases and pain.
- Collaborating with molecule engineers for testing, optimizing and identifying clinical candidates and supporting FHD
- Developing innovative approaches to unlock new avenues of research and accelerate the progress of projects and platforms
Basic Qualifications
- PhD with postdoctoral research experience in Biology, Neuroendocrine, Neuron Science, Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology or related discipline.
- Experience on in vitro cell-based assays and in vivo animal model development.
Additional Skills and Preferences
- Solid research experience on the neuroendocrine system, neuron science, gut-brain communication, incretin biology, immunology or relevant biology field.
- Hands-on experience in developing cell-based assays, primary cell culture, neuron cell culture.
- Hands-on experience in developing animal models and in vivo studies.
- In vitro or in vivo image experience preferred
- Demonstrated self-initiative and appropriate risk-taking behaviors.
- Exceptional problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and fast-paced team environment.
- An active scientific curiosity and interest for complementary disciplines within the pharmaceutical industry.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$121,500 - $198,000
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
