DescriptionSeasonal Position: April 2025 - September 2025Position Purpose Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Front Office Managers, the Adventure Coordinator will be responsible for providing top level experience for all guests and to create excitement and value to our guests' perception of the resort and what it offers. Adventure coordinator will create interactive games and crafts as well as maintain pool area clean and stocked to help parents spend quality time with their family, and keep children occupied to give their parents assistance, and an opportunity to relax.
Essential Functions:
- To ensure that there is daily communication with the Guest Services staff.
- The planning of all activities and schedules in the kids activity center.
- Will actively work with children to ensure they are participating in a fun and safe environment.
- Activities should be innovative and non-repetitive for a minimal period of three days, focusing on ages 3-10.
- Ensure all needed materials are stocked and ordered; Also to ensure product is ready and available for every child and all activities.
- To ensure any equipment utilized is ordered timely, accounted for, and properly maintained.
- To ensure that all activities are set prior to the scheduled activities start time.
- To greet all guests with warmth and energy.
- To assist children and their parents with the activity to maximize their experience.
- Manage all social calendars within the activities department for the week/month.
- Monitor all people at the pool area to ensure they are registered guests.
- To tear down and clean all areas utilized for activities.
- Maintains the cleanliness and physical appearance of pool area.
- Supervises the ongoing issuance and inventory or pool towels.
- Assist in the supervision and coaching of activities associates and pool staff.
- Oversee the scheduling of Schedule for Activities/Lifeguard Departments, including approving and denying vacation requests.
- Tack successes and failures of activity programs by monitoring the number of children who participate and their excitement during the activity.
- Send out weekly communication that includes the number of children who partook in the daily activity.
- Assist with any additional tasks or special projects as assigned by Resort Assistant General Manager.
- Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
- Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
- Adherent to performance standards, company policies and procedures, as they relate to the department.
- Operates company vehicles if necessary.
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotels facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:
- Adhere to resort safety standards.
- Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by Manager.
- Assist in maintaining a high morale level in the department by displaying a positive attitude.
- Be thoroughly familiar with and inform guests of resort facilities, hours of operation, and special promotions.
- Perform any or all duties assigned by management.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A valid drivers license with no infractions within seven years is required.
- Must be flexible with willingness to work extra hours as needed.
- Must be competent and safe driver.
- Must maintain a good demeanor and must be a team player
Physical Demands - Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing of objects weighing in excess of 75 pounds.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Move at a speed that is required to respond to work situations (e. g., run, walk, jog).
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e. g., to identify defects).
- Visual acuity and auditory ability to maintain constant observation of pool, hot tub, and slide area and to respond to critical incidents.
- Physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
- Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and steps.
- Move up and down a ladder.
- Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps.
QualificationsEducation High school or equivalent education
required.
Experience Previous Lifeguarding experience preferred.
Licenses or Certificates - Food Handlers
- Must be able to obtain lifeguard certification upon offer for hire.
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Grooming All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad's standards.
