About You

As an Advanced Drafter, you will play an integral role in a highly collaborative team focused on structural design and documentation of various building projects. You will take on increased responsibilities, including drafting simple to moderate-sized projects independently with minimal supervision. For larger and more complex projects, you will collaborate with lead drafters to provide critical support. Your expertise will allow you to incorporate engineer-provided marks into clear, well-coordinated construction sets, as well as develop detailed drawings and plan views with little to no guidance.


Core responsibilities include:

  • Draft and manage simple to moderate-sized projects independently, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with lead drafters on larger, complex projects by supporting drafting and documentation needs.
  • Incorporate engineer-provided marks seamlessly into drawings, producing easy-to-read, well-coordinated construction sets.
  • Develop detailed sections, elevations, and plan views independently, relying on technical skills and a strong understanding of structural elements.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards, codes, and specific project requirements in all drafted work.
  • Organize and maintain thorough and current project documentation.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure consistently accurate and precise deliverables.

Education

  • Associate degree in Drafting, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • A certificate in Drafting from a technical school may also be considered.

Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Technical Proficiency: Exceptional skills in drafting software, including AutoCAD and Revit, with the ability to apply these tools to diverse project types.
  • Detail-Oriented: Capable of creating clean, precise, and highly coordinated construction documents.
  • Independent Problem Solving: Strong ability to develop detailed drawings and plans without direct instruction.
  • Collaborative Communication: Excellent communication skills for working effectively with engineers, lead drafters, and other team members.
  • Efficient Time Management: Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines under minimal supervision.
  • Broad Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction practices, materials, and structural systems.
  • A comprehensive understanding of basic building components and construction practices is essential.
