This part-time, permanent Band 7 position (up to 24 hours) offers a chance to work at the forefront of community-based pain management within a multidisciplinary team renowned for its compassionate care, innovation, and evidence-based practice.

Main duties of the job
What you'll do:
As an Advanced Pain Practitioner, you'll use your clinical expertise to independently assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex or persistent pain conditions. You'll play a key role in transforming lives, shaping service development, and mentoring junior staff.
You will also be involved in:
- Triaging and clinical decision-making for secondary care referrals
- Collaborative working with pain consultants, specialist GPs, and pharmacists
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostics (MRI, x-ray, ultrasound)
- Leading group-based Pain Management Programmes
- Service evaluation and quality improvement projects
- Regular supervision and peer support
- In-service training and CPD, with access to internal and external experts

Job responsibilities
Job Purpose:
To assess, plan, and develop treatment programs for clients with complex physical needs in a clinical setting, working autonomously and maintaining high standards of practice.
To determine clinical diagnoses and manage ongoing development of clinical practice within the service, contributing to service improvements.
Dimensions
Responsible for delivering the persistent pain, CFS/ME, and post-Covid-19 services as part of MOSAIC. Clients are referred by GPs, other health professionals, social services, or self-referral.
Supervise less experienced staff and students, ensuring standards meet professional and educational requirements.
Work within an extended scope role, including triage and diagnostic referrals, and possibly administering injections and monitoring outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Clinical
- Accountable for all aspects of client management and supporting junior staff.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments for complex and chronic cases, devising individualized treatment plans.
- Manage a designated caseload efficiently, prioritizing and organizing clinical tasks.
- Provide expert advice and education to primary care teams regarding pain management.
- Mentor and supervise less experienced team members and students, ensuring proper documentation.
- Assess capacity, obtain informed consent, and work within legal frameworks.
- Offer advice and instruction to clients, carers, and professionals to promote understanding of pain management.

Person Specification Experience
- Senior-level experience in musculoskeletal/pain or CFS/ME services.
- Experience treating complex and chronic patients using a biopsychosocial approach.
- Experience in individual and group rehabilitation, partnership working, service development, and supervision.
- Advanced Practice roles, including diagnostic and interventional procedures, research activity.
