We are recruiting an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our team for 2-3 days per week (20-30 hours).

A working pattern of Monday, Wednesday, and one other day.

The ANP would join our GP Team of 10 GPs and 3 existing ANPs.

Salary: Equivalent to Agenda For Change band 7 to 8a.

The successful candidate must have a suitable prescribing qualification.

Main duties of the job
  • Working as part of the GP Team delivering GP services to patients, including both planned ongoing care as well as acute urgent care.
  • Advanced Nurse Practitioners will be expected to examine, diagnose, prescribe, and treat patients.
  • Management of Patient Health & Illness

To analyse and interpret history, presenting symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate differential diagnoses.

To prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately, including initiation of effective emergency care.

To formulate an action plan based on scientific rationale, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines.

Initiates appropriate and timely consultation and/or referral when the problem exceeds the Nurse Manager's scope and/or expertise.

To use national, community, or public health assessment information and guidelines.

To develop and utilise a follow-up system within the practice to ensure patients receive appropriate services and evaluate same.

To provide counselling concerning drug regimes, side effects, and interactions, and prescribe medication based on efficacy, safety, and cost, from the appropriate formulary.

To order, perform, and interpret common screening and diagnostic tests.

To communicate the health status of the patient to relevant healthcare professionals.

To provide health promotion and disease prevention services to patients and their families.

We are a training practice for GPs, medical students, and nurses.

Located in a market town.

CQC inspection in June 2016 rated GOOD in all areas.

The GP team meets daily to offer support and discussion.

Our practice has Learning Disability Friendly and Dementia Friendly status.

We belong to Avon Valley PCN, which comprises our practice and three other surgeries.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • NMC registered.
  • Educated to MSc level.
