Advanced Network Engineer. This position is available at Wright Patterson AFB in Beavercreek, OH and Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts.
This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your expertise to support critical missions for the Air Force Research Lab and the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center. You will be a crucial part of our team, contributing to a diverse range of programs through software design and development, hardware integration, laboratory experimentation, and field testing to deploy innovative software and hardware solutions.
Primary Responsibilities: - Communicate effectively with customers and end users about hardware and software issues, leading meetings as needed.
- Track and document hardware and software across various locations and programs.
- Design and engineer environments, enclaves, and networks for our programs.
- Monitor, manage, and troubleshoot internal and external networks, including encryptors, firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Manage and troubleshoot virtual environments, particularly using VMware.
- Oversee storage appliances and assist with vendor support troubleshooting.
- Research, implement, monitor, manage, patch, and troubleshoot various Microsoft and Linux products.
- Troubleshoot Active Directory, group policy, routing, and DNS.
- Manage information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVAs) and system security scanning per System Security Plans to identify and remediate vulnerabilities efficiently.
- Initiate IAVA responses, complete remediation tasks, and execute monthly security scans.
- Review logs and vulnerabilities to identify potential issues and engineer effective solutions.
- Plan and manage system installations and upgrades for networks and servers, both hardware and software.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years in Networking, Communications, or Systems Engineering. Candidates with 4 additional years of experience without a degree will also be considered.
- Ability to identify issues and research solutions.
- Strong desire to learn and adopt new technologies.
- Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts including IP, DNS, DHCP, Routing, VLANs, and switch configuration.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Top Secret security clearance required, along with SCI eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications: - Possession of relevant professional certifications such as Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, or CompTIA.
- Currently holding an active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs and experience in implementing security measures across technology platforms.
- Previous work experience with encryption networks and COMSEC.
- Experience using CISCO command line tools.
- Knowledge of fiber networking and conducting installations on ruggedized systems.
- Experience with VPN solutions or enterprise network routing.
- Familiarity with MLS Switches and NTP/PTP systems.

Pay Range: $89,700.00 - $162,150.00. The pay range listed is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Factors considered for extending an offer include responsibility of the role, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity.
