Akkodis is looking for a (full-time) Advanced Lead Engineer - Embedded Software Development in Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid). Please review the details below:

Seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and testing of firmware for aerospace systems. The role involves developing real-time embedded software for systems that control critical electromechanical components such as motors, valves, engines, and fans.

Salary Range: $90,000-$120,000/annum; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job Type: Full-Time/Direct Hire

3 days onsite/week

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect and develop embedded software modules and systems.
  • Lead full software development lifecycle (Agile or V-model).
  • Integrate software with microcontrollers, processors, and FPGAs.
  • Support hardware-software integration and communication protocols (CAN, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553).
  • Guide junior team members and contribute to technical leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet performance, cost, and schedule goals.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or high school diploma/GED with 6+ years of relevant experience).
  • 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with C or ADA programming.
  • Proficiency with embedded development tools (debuggers, emulators, compilers).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with DO-178B/C certified development.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems and Xilinx Standalone OS.
  • Network driver development experience.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell, Perl).
  • Project management and global collaboration experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (preferred).
