Akkodis is recruiting a full-time (direct-hire) Advanced Lead Engineer- Hardware in Grand Rapids, MI, OR Clearwater, FL. Please review the details below:

Ideally, you will drive the architecture, design, and integration of advanced avionics hardware systems, leveraging cutting-edge processor, SoC, and FPGA technologies. This role plays a critical part in influencing future hardware designs, supporting bids and proposals, and executing high-complexity projects with moderate autonomy.


Salary Range: $150,000-$175,000/annum with benefits; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI OR Clearwater, FL Hybrid (2-3 days onsite/week)

Employment Type: Full-time


Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect avionic hardware systems with digital and analog components.
  • Lead board-level circuit design, integration, verification, and documentation efforts.
  • Conduct hardware design trade studies and support new proposals and bids.
  • Solve complex hardware design and manufacturing challenges.
  • Mentor team members and lead small to mid-sized engineering projects.
  • Maintain expertise in semiconductor processors, SoC, and FPGA architectures.
  • Contribute to continuous product development and technical improvements.
  • Modify and execute operational procedures to meet quality and delivery standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in digital/analog hardware design.
  • Hands-on experience with Mentor Graphics HyperLynx for signal and power integrity.
  • Expertise in completed multilayer circuit board designs (12+ layers).

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred with 8+ years of digital design experience.
  • Proven experience architecting complex digital hardware (Gigahertz processors, FPGA, CPLD, DDR4 memory, high-density interconnects).
  • Knowledge of high-speed serial links (5+ Gbps), CAN, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC standards, OpenVPX, PIC-SIG.
  • Background in MIL/Aero/Avionics standards and FAA Civil Certification (DO-254).
  • Strong skills in technical writing, team leadership, and communication.
  • Familiarity with tools like Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise, HyperLynx PI/SI, OrCAD PSPICE, LTSpice, Mathcad, and MS Office Suite.
