Job Title : Advanced Electrical Engineer Location: Middletown, RI Wage Range: 50-61 Job Number: 25-02802 Job Description: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for an Advanced Electrical Engineer to work from their Middletown, RI facility. A s an Advanced Electrical Engineer, you'll be a member of or lead a cross functional team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics and underwater acoustic systems. Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. US Citizenship is required. Duties and Responsibilities: Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, transformers, inductors, amplifiers, and communication Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems including test software applications Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems Design and build prototype cable assemblies Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer Generate design and interface documentation Qualifications: Working knowledge of the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phases Working knowledge of op-amps and transistors Experience with analog and digital circuit design including signal integrity principles Experience with transformers and inductors, and how to size them including key parameters such as flux density magnetizing current, leakage inductance, transformer and inductors losses and temperature rise. Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols such as TCP and UDP Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience a plus), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc. Familiarity with underwater acoustic principles Strong documentation and communication skills Experience with the following a plus: battery systems, electric motors, and MATLAB programming Equal opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities While an hourly range is posted for this position, an eventual hourly rate is determined by a comprehensive salary analysis which considers multiple factors including but not limited to: job-related knowledge, skills and qualifications, education and experience as compared to others in the organization doing substantially similar work, if applicable, and market and business considerations.
