Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, well-motivated, experienced clinical pharmacist with a passion for education and training to play a significant role in the development of the next generation of pharmacists.

This joint post is between Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STHFT) and The University of Sheffield MPharm programme. The clinical educator will develop and deliver teaching and assessment at the university, and support experiential learning in the workplace, alongside working as part of the STHFT clinical pharmacy team to provide pharmaceutical care to patients in wards and departments within the trust.

The successful applicant must be a registered pharmacist with a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or equivalent, and with experience in education and training. You will need excellent time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage your workload independently but collaborate with a range of colleagues on complex issues utilising excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will also need to be organised, approachable, adaptable, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development.

The post holder will contribute to clinical pharmacy provision within an agreed specialty area and the development of medicines management and optimisation throughout the patient care pathway.

The post holder will participate in the 1 in 5 weekend and bank holiday service within STHFT, and the late night (to 8pm) rota.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council MPharm degree
  • Higher degree or postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or postgraduate diploma in specialist area
  • Education/teaching qualification e.g. FHEA, PGCert Higher Education or willing to work towards after appointment
  • Independent prescriber
  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Experience
  • Extensive post-registration experience including significant experience in clinical pharmacy specialities.
  • Experience of planning, delivering, and evaluating pharmacy education and training programmes and/or training of other healthcare professionals.
  • Experience of working with educational institutions
  • Experience of mentoring/coaching/supervision
Skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership of both people and projects
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and have own accountability for professional actions.
