Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: RN license active in the state of Missouri Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days Position Competencies: Competencies are essential skills needed to be successful in a position. These competencies are required to help the department maintain a high level of productivity and success. Each competency will be evaluated by observation. Clinical Performance: Provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way using a relationship based care approach. The needs of patients and families across the continuum are identified and met and includes opportunities for patient and family education. Formulates or follows a goal directed plan of care and implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent and continuous manner. Evaluates the effectiveness of self and care given by all health care team members in progressing patients toward goal. Demonstrates knowledge of expert resources and support services that are available and how to access them when needed. Patient Safety: Situations are analyzed for potential safety concerns and appropriate action is taken to reduce or eliminate risks for potential harm. Exercises good judgment and knows when to seek outside advice when solving problems to prevent unfavorable patient outcomes. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedures, code of conduct, safety protocols, and infection prevention standards, and follows them accordingly. Education: Maintains current knowledge of nursing information both in general and specific to the department. Attends all classes as required, and seeks out opportunities to learn and grow. Completes all mandatory education in a timely manner. Documentation: Documents patient care as required by hospital policy and department standards in a timely manner. Medication: Administers medication according to the 5 Rights and hospital policy. Educates patients to the action, benefits, and side effects. Monitors for adverse reactions. Ability to assess, report, document, and respond to patients posing a risk of harm to self or to others. Responds to crisis-situations as directed by department policy. Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Performs appropriate interventions as ordered by the physician in an accurate and timely manner; i.e. seclusion, restraints, etc. Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by the individualized plan of care. Documents patient assessment findings, behavioral/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention, and progress towards problem resolution. Communicate effectively and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, families, physicians, and staff. Delegate appropriate tasks to unlicensed personnel and provide required supervision. Adheres to infection prevention practices and facility safety policies and procedures. Has read and acknowledged the guidelines and expectations outlined in the Weekend Option program policy. Aware of the eligibility criteria and commit to fulfilling the assigned shifts to maintain status in the program. Aware that eligibility to take off a set number of shifts is contingent upon department leadership approval and adheres to the provided guidelines. Aware of the defined weekend hours during which the weekend differential pay is applicable and understand that only worked hours within this timeframe qualify for the differential pay.
