Do you have customer service experience? Do you stay calm when technology doesn't cooperate? The new opening at our library may be perfect for you. We are hiring an Associate to run our large adult programs and also staff the Adult Help Desk. Duties include working with our Adult Programs Associate to facilitate programs which occur at least twice a week. You will greet the performers, help them set up, greet patrons, and run the AV equipment which includes the projector, cameras and microphones. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with troubleshooting issues and be confident in speaking to audiences in person and online.
Required Hours: 2 evenings per week (Monday and Wednesday 5-9pm), Friday 2-6pm and at least one weekend shift per month (Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 1-5pm) for an average of 24 hours per week.
Salary: $20-22 per hour depending on qualifications. This is a year-round part-time non-exempt position that works within a friendly team environment with great co-workers and management.

Main Job Duties: - Works with staff to help book outside performers and suggest new ones.
- Helps coordinate event details, including presenter communication, payments, and room setup.
- Attends most programs to assist with tech, patron needs, and presenter support.
- Gathers patron feedback and helps with self-led activities like crafts or game nights.
- Steps in to support programs needing extra help during their shift.
Customer Service & Library Support - Answers phones, chats, and emails; helps with reference and reader's advisory.
- Assists patrons with computers, printers, copiers, and the catalog.
- Monitors rooms and public areas, keeping everything clean and welcoming.
- Retrieves materials and refers patrons to librarians when needed.
- Helps with displays and decorations.
- Participates in outreach and supports events like the Summer Library Club.
Requirements

- Display an outgoing, friendly personality and ability to think on your feet.
- Possess a high school degree or equivalent and at least 2 years of working in a customer-facing job.
- Possess excellent communication skills. This position communicates regularly with people outside of the Library; professional and courteous communication skills are essential.
- Be skilled in using the internet and be able to learn the different software required to sign people up for programs, study rooms, and to place holds on materials.
- Be able to assist patrons with adding and navigating all library apps on their portable devices.
- Have excellent computer skills and ability to use tools such as Zoom, microphones, projector screens, Mevo cameras or other equipment to stream live or record programs in person and online.
- Be able to speak in front of a group to introduce presentations in person and online.
- At least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license.
- Bilingual, specifically in Spanish, is a plus.
Physical Requirements: - Manual: enough to operate computer keyboard and mouse.
- Mobile: enough to navigate library spaces and quickly move around a room to troubleshoot equipment or fetch items for a presentation.
- Mobile: able to move lightweight chairs and rolling tables to accommodate last minute room setup changes if necessary.
- Visual: able to detect color coding, read documents and a computer screen.
- Communication: Fluent in English, both written and oral. Able to speak and be heard and hear the speech of co-workers and patrons in person and over the phone. Able to be heard by a larger group of people without the aid of a microphone.
