Job Summary In keeping with our organization's goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a critical role in providing superior customer service and nursing services to all Residents in the facility. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the planning, development and overall operation of the Nursing Department which ensures Residents receive quality care 24 hours a day.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Keeping patient and employee records updated and accurate.
Performs the duties of the DON during the Director's absence from the facility
Implements nursing policies and procedures that reflect facility mission and philosophy
Conducts education, infection control, quality assurance and admission screening functions as assigned
Utilizes resources in an efficient and economic manner to ensure that each resident achieves the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being
Responsible for making daily rounds on unit to supervise, observe, examine, interview residents, evaluate staffing needs, monitor regulatory compliance, to achieve the care environment and to evaluate staff interactions and clinical skills competency
Screens prospective admissions for level of care and anticipated needs required by federal regulations. Collects and reviews available records, interviews resident, designated family members with consent of resident and legal representative. Conveys information to unit staff and assists staff to prepare for admissions of new resident
Assists DON with preparation for Department of Health Survey
Required Skills & Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Active RN License in the State of Pennsylvania
Minimum of 1 year professional nursing experience in long-term care setting
Previous Unit Manager or ADON experience required
Possess a working knowledge and ability to apply standards of professional nursing practice in job situations
Ability to develop nursing policies and procedures that reflect current clinical practice, professional standards, and facility philosophy of care
Knowledge of and ability to apply current principles of infection control to facility and resident specific situations
Knowledge of MDS and Care Planning Process
Current knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations that apply to practice of nursing in long term care
