Description

Governors State University is seeking to hire an Admissions Analyst - Domestic Evaluator for the Admissions Processing department. The primary responsibility of the position is to process admissions applications in Slate and Colleague to determine an admissions decision for applicants by calculating GPA's, determining test scores, and reviewing additional supplemental admissions materials.

Essential Responsibilities

Verify if applicants have previous enrollment and check for academic holds for all students. Review for accuracy and enter applications submitted through the online application system (Slate) into the Colleague ERP system. Receive all supplemental application materials and update the ERP system with the appropriate data including but not limited to transcript GPAs, degrees earned, transfer credits, degrees earned, dates attended for all academic levels. Ensure supplemental items are marked received in the CRM. Maintain student application database for accuracy and changes, additions, and deletions of information for student records. Match miscellaneous documents received with their applications as the applications are received. Work with departments to ensure that applications are marked complete and ready for review. Provide applicants with their application status when requested.

Evaluate applicant transcripts, calculate hours earned, overall grade point average, degree(s) awarded, when necessary, identify lower and upper division credit for admission to desired academic program. Complete credential evaluation for all majors, academic levels, including GPA calculation, possible best or last 60 credit hours earned, evaluation of standardized tests including but not limited to GED.ACT.SAT.GRE.GMAT PTE/TOEFL/IELTS. Verify regional accreditation of prior schools attended and applicant's prior institutional standing. Complete evaluation and admit or deny applicant based on selected major, certificate, or other program. After evaluation, ensure that critical information is forwarded to selected college for notification or for an admission decision to be made by the college. Assign advisor per the "Master List" for college admissions workflows and note any admission conditions after evaluation is completed. Remove any hold(s) applied to an applicant's account once condition(s) have been met. When necessary, review college decision and update computer record of student and ensure that proper coding is entered in order to generate the appropriate subsequent activity including admission generated letters, accurate applicant lists, etc. Upon file review, ensure that appropriate workflow communication is generated and send to applicants. This might include applicant deficiencies, credential completion, or other critical admission material. Maintain professional contact with higher education and secondary education intuitions as needed to decipher records, request verifications, determine student academic standing, inquire about credit levels, and other credential evaluation issues.

Be a contact for prospective students, applicants, admitted students, key college personnel, and other university personnel who interact with students. The employee will converse and interact with a variety of collegiate personnel covering a wide variety or admission and recruitment issues. The employee with exercise initiative and take ownership over the process of admitting and evaluating student files. The number one initiative for Governors State University is to increase enrollment. This employee plays a critical role in processing admission applications and corresponding with applicants. The employee with work to assist the university in reaching its enrollment growth plans efficiently and effectively.

Keep daily and weekly statistics of applications processed and admission evaluations.

Hourly Range: $18.13 - $20.51
This is a unionized position - Teamster Local 743 - Clerical

Required and Preferred Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years from the categories below:
A. Course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its
proportional equivalent:

  • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year
  • 60 semester hours or an Associate's degree equals eighteen (18) months
  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years
  • 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's degree equals three (3) years
B. Work experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Colleague ERP system.
  • Experience with Slate system.
