Responsible for implementation, support and security of network communications related services of the facility. Follow the facility's policies and procedures, local, state, and federal regulations. Have knowledge of health care systems, and demonstrate ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce.

The ideal candidate has worked with Aruba/Cisco switches and has configured VLANs, access/trunk ports, and worked with spanning tree. Firewall experience is a major requirement to succeed as a network admin. Have FortiGate experience and work with IPsec VPNs to provide connectivity with 3rd party organizations and SSL-VPN for remote worker connectivity. Configuring next-generation firewall features like web filtering and IPS are a major plus. Responsible for configuring/working with routing specifically using FortiGate would be great. Have worked with an enterprise wireless solution, preferably through Aruba Central. Willingness to learn and be familiar with all aspects of the IT environment.

The incumbent will have knowledge of health care systems, and have demonstrated ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
  • Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control and evaluation; and maintain documentation
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Perform cabling and other infrastructure duties according to company and fire codes.
  • Document design work to a level that the organization is protected in the event that the employee is no longer able to perform his/her duties.
  • Keeps current with principles and practices, technology, regulations and standards that apply to healthcare information technology communications.
  • Manage IP based voice communication systems
  • Deploy appropriate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions to protect the organization from corruption, theft, or destruction of PHI or other critical IT systems.
  • Recommend and implement any network maintenance, patching, and performance tuning to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to establish appropriate department priorities.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
  • Responsible for compliance with overall service, safety, compliance standards and all others
  • Participate in an on-call after hour support rotation.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire and safety.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department
  • Attend staff meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Associate's degree in network administration
  • Required: 3+ years' experience in network operations
  • Preferred:3+ Network Operations experience in the Healthcare Environment
  • Preferred: Fortinet Fortigate 7.0/7.2/7.4 Administrator
  • Preferred: Aruba Central experience and cloud managed wifi
  • Required: Meet all Employee Health Requirements
  • Preferred: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
