Description

The Kentucky State Treasury is a watchdog for taxpayer dollars. The Administrative Specialist Senior position is responsible for working in a division that serves as a callcenter for the Unclaimed Property program. The call center assists constituents with claim inquiries andquestions regarding unclaimed property. They provide information for individuals on the claims process if theproperty is rightfully theirs to claim. Other job responsibilities include generating, reviewing, and issuingpayments to constituents; and processing unclaimed property reports and holder payments submitted to thedivision per Kentucky statutes and regulations.

The call center provides an opportunity to assist individuals by returning money to them they often did notknow existed. This job responsibility can be rewarding as it brings joy when someone expresses theirappreciation for the customer service you have given during the claims process. Other benefits of the job arethe teamwork and cooperation demonstrated by the staff when the team pulls together during busy times to carryout the mission of the unclaimed property program.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Answering phones to assist callers with inquiries concerning Unclaimed Property.
  • Initiating claims per Kentucky statutes and regulations.
  • Processing, reviewing, and approving claims.
  • Processing Holder Reports.
  • Processing incoming mail.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
