The Prince William County Department of Public Safety Communications is seeking highly motivated candidates with exceptional interpersonal skills for the position of Administrative Specialist. The successful candidate plays a vital role in providing essential support to the Department of Public Safety Communications. The Department is a diverse and dynamic organization that provides critical emergency services to the citizens, visitors, and businesses in Prince William County.
About This Role: The ideal candidate will have customer service experience both internally and externally, have strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to independently solve problems and have keen attention to detail. The selected applicant will serve on the administrative team by supporting staff with data collection and reporting, communicating with internal and external customers, and clerical duties such as processing travel requests, ordering supplies as needed and performing basic administrative duties. This position has access to confidential and sensitive information and must demonstrate a high level of integrity and trust.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of related administrative experience.
Preferences: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, Mobius or similar, Teams/Webex, Adobe Pro and records management.
Special Requirements: The applicant must pass a post-conditional offer comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history check, driving record check, drug testing, credit check, typing test (minimum WPM 30), medical examination, psychological and polygraph assessments.
Work Schedule: The normal schedule is Monday through Friday in 8-hour increments, but the ever changing and challenging dynamics in the Communications Center may demand some short notice adjustments to work schedule, including some after hours and weekends.
Starting Salary Range: $25.44 - $27.98/hr.
