We are currently seeking a Time-Limited Administrative Specialist II to join the growing Program Management Division within the Office of Financial Management. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting long-term disaster recovery efforts, affordable and attainable housing initiatives, community development, and public service programs funded through a variety of complex federal, state, and local sources.

About the Position
In this role, you will be responsible for
Administrative Support:
- Assist in preparing, submitting, and tracking agenda items for the Sarasota County Board, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Work closely with various county departments and stakeholders to meet deadlines, schedule meetings, and issue public notices and materials.
- Handle proofreading, correspondence, purchase requisitions, invoice processing, supply orders, and payment tracking.
- Use Microsoft Office and county systems to support meetings, maintain records, and facilitate internal and public documentation.
Special Projects and Program Enhancement:
- Assists with special projects, monitors correspondence, tracks program status, and ensures deadlines are met.
- Interpret documents and regulations, and assess program and grant-funded activity outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal staff to develop and implement process improvements and quality control measures.
Special Note: This position is a time-limited role. In this time-limited role, your position may be maintained until December 31, 2028. You will receive benefits and retirement, but will lack retention rights to your position.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Typical Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ( no weekends. )
- After you complete your first 6 months of employment, this position is eligible to work remotely 1 to 2 days per week (contingent on work requirements and other factors).
As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
- High school diploma OR GED.
- 2 to 5 years of clerical and computer experience (1 year of college may substitute for 1 year of experience).

- College coursework in Business and professional certifications.
- Background in grants, housing, community development, or government work.
- Strong ability to handle difficult customers, respond to complex inquiries, and interact professionally with executives and external clients.
- Demonstrates initiative, uses sound independent judgment, and can address policy, legal, or regulatory issues effectively.
- Skilled in organizing and presenting information with excellent time management and technical knowledge.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move 20 lbs.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $21.85 - $22.73
